Technology? or Nature...

As the years go by technology is growing and as more and more people get involved they start to forget about the outside world and natures wonderful things.
During the course of my daily observations I realized that I never really took the time to go out and put my phone down for a while. Somedays I wouldn't observe because I was to "lazy" but it wasn't that at all somedays I would get so caught up with watching tv and being on my phone that I would blow off observing. But sometimes we have to break that habit and overcome it because it's not good to be focused on the internet or on a tv show for so long.
Their is a lot of people mostly teenagers who are addicted to shows and facebook and all of those things and in our society I feel like it's not the best choice to be online 24/7.
Their is a lot of wonderful things out there to explore, you never know maybe you'll end up liking something that can help you succeed in life. Doing this project helped me go out more and actually do something with my free time instead of wasting it being on facebook or instagram. Everytime I would go to the park and just walk it made me feel better just to go out and have time alone. I learned a lot from going to the park and observing it. As I said from the beggining I had already been to that park many times but never did I imagine that I would explore the things I did I felt like I already knew that park very well and it turns out I didnt.
Maybe it's because everytime I was there I was always on my phone or listening to music. I never took the time to look up and aknowledge the park itself and all of its wonderful life. I was reading an article called "Technology causes social isolation" by Crimbchin, Pamela. The article talked about technology making people depressed and how they felt like they didn't fit in so they had to use online sources to make themselfs more "popular".
But I mean what extactly does that get you? You don't see a lot of people at parks or rivers because their whole lives revolve around technology and I mean if
you really want to have "fun" go out and actually do something productive! Go outside make new friends find new adventures take trips explore new things you never know you might end up liking it.
Next time you make an excuse to blow something off think about how "facebook" or "instagram" is going to help you in life. Go out! Learn something new take responsability and do something for our soceity. Natures not the only thing to explore there's a lot more in the world than just parks and rivers but there's also a lot more than computers and phones so take the time to appriciate what life actually is.

~♪Waterfalls ♪~

Rain!Rain!Rain! I LOVE the rain! Since it was pretty windy and sort of rainy over these past days I observed from the car as we drove by the park. We drive past the park very often so I figured that I would observe while we drove by.
As the rain fell the trees shined from the sun & it seemed like mini waterfalls coming down from the leaves. There was a rainbow shining through since it had been raining since the night. On my way to work at 7 am I made my brother stop by the park just for a bit and as we were leaving I asked "Do you ever wonder where the end of the rainbow is?". As a kid my mom always told me that a pot of gold was always at the end of every rainbow & she taught me never to point at a rainbow because she said it was bad luck.

In Chinese mythology, the rainbow was a slit in the sky sealed by goddess Nüwa using stones of five different colours. In Hindu religion, the rainbow is called Indradhanush, meaning "the bow (Sanskrit and Hindi: dhanush is bow) of Indra, the god of lightning, thunder and rain"

#Tb

#Tb? Let's go back to when I first began observing.
The first day I went to the park to do my very first observation I noticed a lot of people running and exercising the sun was glowing and the birds where chirping. (Daily Notes 9/22)
There was a lot and I mean a lot of mosquitoes and dragon flies & let me tell you I am NOT a bug person but somehow the dragon fly really caught my attention because the sun was shining right on it and its blue colors just popped, it look really peaceful flying around the table which at times it would stop on.

This week of observation I noticed a lot has changed for one the trees aren't green like they used to be and the weather is not that perfect.
Those sunny days turned to windy nights and cold days. Not a lot of people like running or working out in the cold which is why their hasn't been many people running or at the park its self. There isn't many bugs and I don't see dragon flies that often. I realize now that those annoying yet beautiful bugs are the ones that bring life to the park. Imagine a park with no bugs or animals? What would we observe when there's nothing?

Fun Fact: As I left the park I kept thinking to myself what the meaning of a dragonfly was.
I decided to look it up when I got home and just in case you where wondering the same thing the answer is on the bottom.

     MEANING OF A DRAGON FLY:
"The dragonfly totem carries the wisdom of transformation and adaptability in life. As spirit animal, the dragonfly is connected to the symbolism of change and light. When the dragonfly shows up in your life, it may remind you to bring a bit more lightness and joy into your life. Those who have this animal as totem may be inclined to delve deep into their emotions and shine their true colors."

The Wonders…

These past weeks I've been observing Cottonwood park have been very interesting but there's more to this park than observing.
Wether i'm sitting or walking around‚ this park makes everything disappear. Some days when I'm done with my observations I just sit on one of the benches and write poems or listen to music. When i'm feeling down or I'm having a bad day I walk to the park and just forget about everything. The park is actually a very good place to just forget about the world and all your problems for a bit.
Everyone has a place that they go to when they need some space or when they need to just think and get away from everything. My place is the park at first I didn't want to move but ever since I've been coming to the park and having time and space I love it here. Everyday that I pass by the park as i'm going to school the sun is always shining bright on the water and the trees look more wonderful than ever as the sun is rising it's as if the whole park is coming to life from sleeping all night.
       "Natures Wonders"
Everything is frozen.
Nothing has ever felt so great than to forget about the world and just focus on natures actual wonders.
The trees as they flow and the living things that we sometimes are to busy to acknowledge.

Mysterious Trail…

Mystery Trail… bet you guys are wondering where it led and why it's so "mysterious".
It was just a regular week of new observations until I was making my way down the trail and I noticed a different path that lead down to the river that I had never seen. You may be asking how I knew it lead to the river if I had never seen it or been down it‚ well from the top of the trail you could see the river flowing.
I was trying to decide if I wanted to go down the path or not because it had a lot of rocks… but I'm not one to turn down a challenge & let me tell you it wasn't easy going down but it was worth it.
Once I got to the bottom I realized that there wasn't a place where I could walk down to… but there was rocks where I could sit & make my observations. I began to just listen to music and look around everything was peaceful and the river was flowing slowly. The sun was setting and it seemed like the river was flowing slower & slower just as of it was setting with the sun…

My Discoveries

Cottonwood park, I've been to this park for many occasions. It's a gorgeous park with picnic tables, a running trail, and a place to play volleyball.... But, there's more to this park than just its outside appearance. There is so much more life that I have been observing over the past week and I can't wait to find and observe new things.
Over this first week I noticed a lot of things that I never knew where there for example that their is a lot of factories surrounding the park. Also, there's a hill that leads you down to the river which is full of life and new things to observe and learn (fishes, beavers, and little crabs). As I was making my way down the running trail I noticed a lot of people running (yes, I was the only one walking). As a matter of fact a lady that was running kept looking at me (she was observing the observer). One night as I was coming home from work I saw a skunk going towards the bushes where the trail that leads to the river is.
This upcoming week for my observation I'm going to focus more on the bushes and the trail because nothing yet everything can be hiding there. What's really fascinating to me about this project is that no matter what you're observing you always find something knew even if you pass/go to that place everyday there's always new surprises and I can't wait to learn new stuff about this park.
Specially during FALL!
        "An Autumn Day"
      Pumpkins in the cornfields,
      Gold among the brown,
      Leaves of rust and scarlet
      Trembling slowly down;
      Birds that travel southward,
      Lovely time to play;
      Nothing is as pleasant
      As an autumn day!
